Dueling Denim

Try double denim this season with striking pumps and ombre violet lips.

STYLE TIP: Embrace similar denims or go for an obvious dissimilarity between different shades – Like a lot of ensembles in fashion, be bold and confident, or don’t try this one at all.

Preparing for Spring/Summer: Workout Routines

Alright, so you ate the Halloween candy, indulged in your family's homemade recipes, attended the company pot luck buffet, and pretty much pounded all the delicious desserts in sight over the past 2013 holiday season. Well, maybe some of you did not indulge. You were strong willed, determined, and able to show restraint, but for those who caved (like me, lol), this post is to get us back motivated and toned up for spring/summer, which is fast approaching.  Realize it's February already. Time really does fly by. You may, or may not have a smoking hot date planned for V-day, but after February, comes March, and did you know Spring officially begins March 20th? Of course you did.

You may stay in a geographical region where it takes a little bit longer to warm up, but that does not mean you cannot get a head start working on your fitness. As a native Floridian who enjoys being outside, when the Weather Channel says its 70 degrees or higher, we are outside doing an activity under the sun.

Hot Sun = Less Clothes, and we live for the beach, palm trees, hot, humid tropical weather, outside festivals, amusement parks, sporting events, you name it, we are out there living it up. If you plan to show a little skin when the sun peaks out, and temperatures began to rise, I'm posting a few of my favorite workout regimes to get you started at home.

PS I kinda don't believe in paying for the gym, I like to work out in nature, or at home. If I commit to something, I just simply set my mind to it, and do it. True, my weight fluctuates ugh! But for myself, I have found that no fixed fee will make me drive to a gym when I have most of what I need at home (gym fees can motivate some, but it just doesn't do it for me unfortunately).

What to Wear: Charity Cocktail Event

Today's post is dedicated to a dear and lovely friend who told me earlier today she needs to attend a charity cocktail event this upcoming Friday. It's a big deal. She's actually hosting the event, and needs to find an ensemble quick! It's a cocktail charity "shindig". She wants to look absolutely fabulous, of course, but here's the kicker, she doesn't want to look sexy. She wants to look fun, but still about her business, and asks could I lend her any suggestions.

When I think of charity, and fashion, I think of modesty too, so I recognize where my friend is coming from, when she says "not sexy". For a charity event, everyone wants to appear polished (like they have money to give away), but not to distract from the true purpose of the event, which is to raise money for those who may be less fortunate. For a charity event, I would try my best to avoid showcasing too much leg, cleavage, and back. Nothing overtly sexy, but as a woman we are always stimulating mind, body and spirit. We just cant help it :-)

For attire,  I personally know that my friend loves dresses. I am adventurous, and would try and wear a romper or something crazy, but as the hostess, I think she would prefer the silhouette of any of the dresses below. Not too sexy or revealing, professional but not office, comfortable but not restricting, is what I have chosen because I feel she may have to move around often and work the crowd for a few hours. I wish her all the best, and I hope she has a fun, memorable, charity event with an abundance of contributions.

MUSIC MONDAY - Sheila E. The Glamorous Life

I love music. Good music, that is. That's why each Monday going forward, I am going to try and revive an oldie but goodie, or post a new artist feature. No matter the genre. If it's good music and the world needs to hear it, or re listen, yes I'm going to post it here. I am also open to suggestions, so you are more than welcome to recommend artists, any genre.

This is my very first "Music Monday" Post. It is only fitting that I start with one of my favorite songs, all the way back from 1984. I wasn't even alive yet, but I enjoy listening to Sheila E! If you are not familiar with her, look her up. She is a Grammy winning percussionist and singer whose notable collaborators include Billy Cobham, Lionel Richie, George Duke, Prince, Ringo Starr, Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Hans Zimmer and Kanye West.

Oh yea, did I have to mention she also had the most amazing style and costumes back in the day. It seemed like she was never afraid to wear anything. She's graced us with opulent trench coats, ruffled tuxedo shirts, tall over the knee boots, the big hair, flawless embellished sheer body suits, furs, hair accessories... this list could go on forever. It's funny, but I own most of the items just mentioned, and its decades later. Her fashion is still very relevant and very iconic. Today we show appreciation and love for Sheila Escovedo, known by her stage name simply as Sheila E. One of the baddest percussionists ever. I hope you enjoy listening to "The Glamorous Life".

What to Wear: Superbowl 2014 Edition

Thousands are gearing up to gather with friends and family to observe the big game today. Even more exciting, many are even traveling to NJ to watch what happens live in person. Although it's football, I like to look cute, but relaxed while supporting my team. What I have learned over the years about sports events, is to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. You never know how long you will have to walk or stand. You can support by dressing in team colors, or not at all. Don't get too fancy though, just be laid back, and have fun. Today you get the chance to experiment with the casual attire in your wardrobe. No frills. No sequins. No crazy 6 inch stilettos.

Remember, most people's eyes will be fixated on the game, but I've posted a few inspired looks I hope will make a few heads turn your way. *wink wink

Look 1 - Seahawks Fan!

Look 2 - Broncos Fan!
Look 3 - Neutral Fan? Just at the party socialize!
Hope this helps, and thanks for visiting       Tell a friend!
